Healing
Today we are going to talk about healing. Many people do not know the power of God and how God heals today. The Bible says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is an unchangeable God. Jesus did miracles then; he can do them today because he is alive.
The first man was created by God. He was healthy and happy and did not have any sickness or disease. He and his wife lived happily with joy and peace, not having any kind of sickness or disease. Why did sickness and disease come into this world? The word of God says, in John 10:10, the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and Jesus says, "I have come to give you life, and more abundant life." So abundant life comes from God, but sickness and disease comes from the devil. The devil is a liar, deceiver, and destroyer. He is the enemy of God, and he tried to destroy mankind. When God created man and kept him in the Garden of Eden, he was happy, and he was healthy. But the enemy came to destroy him. The enemy came and lied to him. And when mankind disobeyed God, death came into this world. Because God said to the man, "The day you eat of this fruit, you will surely die" (Genesis 2:17). But he disobeyed God and obeyed Satan, and the spiritual death came. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. So you can see God always wants us to be living in health and prosperity. The day that man committed sin, sickness and disease came into this world. Thorns and thistles came because of man’s sin. The book of Genesis says that the whole world was cursed because of Adamic sin. But God promised man that one day there would be a redeemer, and he was talking about Jesus Christ, who was going to come to save mankind. Thank God for Jesus.
Well, let me tell you how God delivered the children of Israel and how he saved and healed them. The children of Israel were in Egypt. They were in slavery. They had a lot of problems - sickness, disease, persecution. But when they cried to God, God sent them a deliverer. God wanted to deliver the children of Israel from bondage and from the sinful land, but Pharaoh would not let the people go. But one day God told the children of Israel, "Take the sacrificial lamb, and put the blood on your doorpost, and, when the death angel will come, he will see the blood sign, and he will pass over." And they did exactly what God said. The children of Israel were saved from bondage, and God took them away from that land, with a glorious and miraculous hand, with power and great glory. God divided the Red Sea, and they were delivered from the hand of the enemy. The word of God says, in Psalm 105:37, when he delivered the Israeli people, not a single person was feeble among their tribes. Each and every person was healed. They were tormented in the land of Egypt. But when God delivered them, each of them was healed, completely healthy, and strengthened by the power of God. God gave them the wealth of the wicked people. They were very healthy, happy people.
God delivered the children of Israel from the land of Egypt, and he told them these things. He said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you" (Ex. 15:26).
God is our healer. He wants to heal you, if you listen to the word of God, obey the commandments of God, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. Exodus 23:25 says, "I will take sickness away from the midst of thee." God says he will bless your bread, water, children, and family members and will take sickness away from you when you listen to him. That means sickness will not come to your dwelling. When you are the child of God, God dwells in you. You are the temple of the living God, and if you live for God, God protects you. God says, "I will take the sickness away from the midst of thee."
He says, "I am the Lord that healeth thee." Jesus Christ is the Lord. God promised healing to the children of Israel. God sent his only begotten Son into this world so that we would not perish, but we would have everlasting life. In John 10:10 it says the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus says, "I have come to give you life, and more abundant life." More abundant life comes from God. God is our healer. God wants you to be healthy and happy.
In Psalm 30:2, the psalmist says, "O Lord my God, I cry unto thee, and thou hast healed me." The psalmist had faith that God is a healer. David was a king. He had money. He could call doctors and spend lots of money. But he cried unto God.
God is a healer. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. The psalmist says, "I cry unto God, and he has healed me." The word of God says in Isaiah 59:1-2, "Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear." So, in short, sickness and disease comes because of sin and disobedience to God. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are brokenhearted and saveth such that be of a contrite spirit." So the word of God is saying that God is so close to those who are brokenhearted and have a crushed spirit. The word of God says the Lord will answer whoever calls upon him. He will heal, deliver, and save. Our God is a miracle-working God. But sometimes we do not take time to pray. The word of God says prayer should come from a broken heart. When we do that, he will hear our prayer. God wants to save you, heal you, deliver you, and set you free. If you have time, read Psalm 91. God promises in verse 16, "With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." God wants to satisfy you with long life, the long life God has given to the children of God.
We read in Psalm 103:1-5, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from the destruction, who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfieth thy mouth with good things so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s." God wants to heal you and set you free. But first of all, the word of God says he "forgiveth all your iniquities, and who healeth all your diseases." When sin is forgiven, healing comes from God. If you are living in sin, and you are asking God to heal you, healing will not come. We have to ask God to forgive our sins. We should also forgive others. Jesus said, "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray; believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses" (Mark 11:23-25). When we do that, God will heal and deliver us. Psalm 107:20 says: "He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions." God sent his word. Jesus Christ is called the word of God. John 1:1-3,14 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Jesus came into this world to heal and deliver and set people free. We read before that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus has come to give you life and more abundant life. The word of God gives you healing for your body. That’s why you should read, study, and believe the word of God. The word of God has power to heal you. Proverbs 3:7-8 says, "Be not wise in thine own eyes. Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones." You should listen to the word of God. Then God can heal you. Proverbs 4:20-23 says: "My son, attend to my words. Incline thine ears unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes. Keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto all those that find them and health unto all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." What is the word of God trying to teach us here? If you keep the word of God in your heart, that word of God will produce health to all your flesh. He wants to heal each and every part of your body. That is his promise. He will heal not just one part of your body, but each and every part of your body.
Today many people do not like to talk about God. They do not like to read the word of God. But they use their tongues to gossip, say foul language, joke around, and say bad things. That is not going to help you to be healed. Read Proverbs 12:18. "There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health." The word of God is saying if you try to speak evil, it is worse than a sword. Do you know that when people are sick and afflicted, they are very irritable, angry, and frustrated? They take their anger out on people because they are frustrated. They curse people. But the word of God says if they do that, they’re not getting healed, but they’re getting worse. The word of God says, "But the tongue of the wise is health." Wisdom doesn’t come from reading filthy books. The word of God says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).
Psalm 119:9-16 says, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord! Teach me your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts and contemplate Your heart. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word."
When you have the word of God in your heart, you’re not going to curse someone. You’re not going to use foul language. You’re not going to joke around, but you’re going to praise God. You’re going to listen to the word of God, and that will bring health to your body. Proverbs 14:30 says, "A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones." God loves you, and God wants you to be healed. The word of God says in Proverbs 17:22, "A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones."
How can you get a joyful heart? The word of God says joy comes from the Lord, the joy of salvation. If a person is not saved, he is always having problems. Even though they look happy and have parties, and good things are happening to them, they are still empty. There is emptiness in their spirit. There’s some kind of vacuum in their spirit. I have heard the stories of many people. When they were living a sinful life, they were miserable. They did not have peace, because the world cannot give you joy and peace. Joy comes from God. God is the only one who can give you joy, and that joy brings health to your body. It works like a medicine in your body.
A merry heart comes from God. Receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior gives you joy and peace in your heart. As you start rejoicing in the Lord, God starts healing your body. The word of God says this in Proverbs 15:13: "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken." So when your heart is merry or joyful, people can see it in your face. When you’re happy and rejoicing, people can notice. I can tell you worldly joy will not bring healing to your body, but joy from the Lord will do good as medicine to your body.
Isaiah 40:29-31 says, "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Who are those people? They are the people who wait upon the Lord, pray, and trust in the Lord. God touches them, heals them, and gives them strength and power to live a long life. God wants his people to be healthy, wealthy, and prosperous.
Dear friends, please just trust in the Lord. God has done everything possible to heal mankind. He sent his Son to die on the cross of Calvary. Isaiah 53:4-5 says, "Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken and smitten by God and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed." God was saying to Isaiah that he was going to send Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary for mankind. He was going to take our sickness and disease on the cross. And with his stripes we were going to be healed. And thank God that prophecy is fulfilled.
We read in the book of Mark that there was a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years, but she was completely healed. "Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well’" (Mark 5:25-28). Jeremiah 17:5 says, "Thus saith the Lord: cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord." The people who reject God say, "I don’t think God is going to heal me. I don’t think God has power to heal this disease." And they trust in man. They depart from God. Their hearts say, "God is not a healer. God cannot heal me." So they go town to town, country to country, doctor to doctor, finding help. We should not trust in man only, but we should trust God. Jeremiah 17:14 says, "Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for thou art my praise." That’s what we should be saying, not trusting in medicine or man alone, but trusting in God.
Jeremiah 30:17 says: "‘I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds,’ saith the Lord." God says, "I will heal you." There is nothing hard for the Lord. God can touch you and heal you right now. There are good doctors, and there are bad doctors. Some doctors are there just to take your money, and some doctors are concerned about your physical and spiritual well-being. So you have to decide what kind of doctor you’re seeking. The godly doctor will tell you that you need God first in your life. The Bible says in Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all other things will be added unto you."
It says in Jeremiah 31:13, "I will turn their mourning unto joy, and I will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow." So God can turn all our sorrow around. He can give you joy, peace, and health. He can take your sorrow away from you. Our God is a healer. He says, "I am the Lord that heals you." Jeremiah 33:6 says, "Behold, I will bring it health and cure; I will cure them and reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth." See, this is a promise. God wants to heal you and cure you.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Return to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the healer. He can heal you right now. You just call upon him. Say, "Lord, please touch me and heal me," and he will do it right now. All of the promises about healing in the Bible are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ came into this world, he did miracles. Many people were healed. Matthew 8:17 says: "That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, ‘Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness.’" That means he carried our sickness and disease. That prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came into this world to take your sickness and disease away. Why don’t you give him a chance? When he was in this world, he touched many people and healed them. He spoke the word and healed them. Jesus Christ healed many people who came to him. That Jesus Christ is still alive. Jesus said in Revelation 1:18, "I was dead, but now I am alive forevermore." Jesus Christ is here to heal you. He healed many people. The lady who had the issue of blood for twelve years just came and touched the garment of Jesus Christ, and that lady was healed. I don’t have time to tell you all the miracles that happened in the Bible. But just take a Bible and read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. You will see miracles that were done by Jesus Christ and his servants. Today no doctor or medicine is available if someone is dead and is buried for four days. After four days no one can raise that person to life, but Jesus did it. If you read the Lazarus story in St. John 11, you will know it. Lazarus was dead for four days. But Jesus just said, "Lazarus, come forth," and he was completely healed. He got a new life and came out of that grave a strengthened and healthy man. Dear friends, if God can raise Lazarus after four days when he was dead, you are still alive. There is hope for you. I have seen people who had all kinds of diseases. When they believed in Jesus, he healed them. He is healing his people today.
There is a power in Jesus Christ. There is a power in the blood of Jesus Christ. If you call upon him right now, he will heal you. He will deliver you. He will set you free. Just turn it over to Jesus Christ and pray like this: "O, Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Be my Lord and be my savior. Please forgive all my sins. Touch me, Lord. Heal me right now. I invite you into my heart. Give me grace to forgive others. Give me grace to love all people. And if you touch me and heal me, I’ll tell others that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my healer. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen." If you totally surrender your life to Jesus and pray this prayer from your heart, he will heal you right now.
Let me pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to you. I believe Jesus Christ took our sorrow, sickness, and pain on the cross, and with his stripes we are healed. Let each and every person who is watching, listening, or reading this be healed, delivered, and set free. I command that sickness or disease to go away in the name of Jesus. And each and every one of you be healed. In Jesus’ name I pray and call it done. Amen.
May God richly bless you and use you more and more for His glory.
